Change In The Memphis Food Desert

Urban neighborhoods in Memphis, Tennessee are generally considered to be food deserts. The Daily News explains that for an area to be considered a food desert it must lack easily reachable supermarkets which leaves the population vulnerable to diet-related health problems. At one point there were only 7 out of 77 low-income census tracks that had access to full service markets.
