Tyson Foods Named 2006 IFDA Supplier Of The Year

Falls Church, FA: Tyson Foods Inc., an IFDA Platinum Partner, was honored as the 2006 International Foodservice Distributors Association (IFDA) Supplier of the Year during a February 11 presentation at the IFDA Partners Executive Forum in Amelia Island, FL.

Bernard Leonard, group vice president, food service, Tyson Foods, received the award on behalf of the company.

“Each year we survey the IFDA membership and ask them to rate the effectiveness and performance of manufacturers that participate in the Partners Program,” said Robert Sledd, IFDA chairman, during the award presentation. “Our goal in performing this survey is to recognize exceptional manufacturer performance in working with distributor customers.”

For the 2006 survey, 51 suppliers were rated on their effectiveness in a number of key business areas, including conveying product information, working with the distributor sales force, quality of sales training material, communicating advertising and promotional information, and the availability of company representatives for handling account issues.

IFDA members identified their top five suppliers based upon the key business areas mentioned above and then rated the company’s performance in each area on a 1 to 5 scale.

Along with Tyson Foods Inc., which received the highest score in the survey, IFDA also recognized the second and third ranking companies. These included Kellogg Food Away-From-Home, ranked second, and Ventura Foods LLC, ranked third.
