SYSCO Corp., based in Houston, honored Ozburn-Hessey Logistics' Fond du Lac, WI, warehouse as its 2005 National Warehouse of the Year for the third straight year. The facility, which handles about 9,000 SKUs from about 300 SYSCO suppliers in eight product categories, maintains an order accuracy rate of 99.96 percent, the highest of any SYSCO warehouse in the country.

Price Chopper Supermarkets, Schenectady, NY, opened a new $16 million, 160,000-square-foot frozen foods distribution center in Rotterdam, NY, Dec. 15. It replaces two smaller warehouses in Colonie, NY, and Waterford, NY, that were operating at or near capacity.

Associated Grocers of New England, Manchester, NH, will begin moving product into a new 360,000-square-foot distribution center in Pembroke, NH, this month, transitioning it as the main distribution point for shipments to more than 400 Northeast retailers.

Walgreen Co., Deerfield, IL, plans to build a new 700,000-square-foot distribution center in Windsor, CT, that it expects will begin serving the 275 stores in the Northeast when it opens in 2008. It also would like to have the disabled make up at least one-third of the total workforce there.

U.S. Foodservice, Columbia, MD, plans to close a distribution center in Freedom, PA, by March. U.S. Foodservice will continue to provide service to customers in western Pennsylvania through two other distribution centers in Altoona, PA, and Greensburg, PA.

D&B Grocers, Livonia, MI, will implement a new financial and distribution software solution from Phoenix-based Advanced Foodsystems to streamline its warehouse operations.

The Essential Baking Co., Seattle, sold off its entire fossil-fueled fleet of delivery vehicles in favor of leasing 13 biodiesel-powered trucks. Comprising the fleet are nine Dodge Sprinters, three Ford Cargo E250s and one Isuzu NPR box truck.

United Supermarkets, Lubbock, TX, which operates 47 stores in Texas under the United Supermarkets, Market Street and United Supermercado banners, will roll out the full suite of GOLD supply chain solutions from Aldata Solution Oyj, based in Finland.

Paris-based retailer Carrefour will also roll out Aldata's GOLD solutions for centralized retail execution and optimized replenishment of the 179 hypermarkets it operates in France.

Butterfield Foods, Noblesville, IN, will implement the Adonix X3 supply chain execution software suite, including the enterprise resource planning (ERP) offering, from Pittsburgh-based Adonix Inc., across its manufacturing and distribution network.

American Roland Food Corp., a New York-based specialty food importer and distributor, will implement the DLx Warehouse, DLx Transportation and DLx Labor solutions from RedPrairie Corp., Waukesha, WI, at a newly constructed New Jersey distribution center. Orefield Cold Storage, Orefield, PA, will implement RedPrairie's DLx Warehouse and DLx Labor solutions at its facility.

International Dairy Queen, Minneapolis, selected the Promotion Management solution Instill Corp., Redwood City, CA to maximize the value of limited-time offers across its 5,700 stores around the world.

Associated Grocers, Baton Rouge, LA, has selected Lawrenceville, NJ-based 1SYNC for data synchronization services that will initially focus on item management, with plans to expand it to price and promotion data in the future.
