As part of its efforts to emerge from Chapter 11 later this year, Winn-Dixie Stores, Jacksonville, FL, will sell its distribution center in Pompano Beach, FL, and move the work performed there to a warehouse in Miami.

C&S Wholesale Grocers, Keene, NH, is closing a distribution center in Halethorpe, MD, run by its Ocean Logistics subsidiary, by the end of the month. The facility serves Superfresh Stores in the Mid-Atlantic. Operations will be transferred to another C&S facility in Maryland. The company also opened a 388,000-square-foot warehouse in Lower Nazareth Township, PA, late last month, and began implementing a data warehouse solution from Teradata to enhance its procurement and retail units.

Following two new contract signings, the McLane Co., Temple, TX, will supply more than 160 New England and Mid-Atlantic Fas Mart and Shore Stop stores, operated by GPM Investments, Mechanicsville, VA, and 10 City Stop Stores in Nevada, through 2009.

Infant formula maker Mead Johnson Nutritionals, Evansville, IN, is implementing an enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution from Washington-based Vision Chain Inc. throughout its supply chain.

Witron will install its fully automated warehouse picking solution inside a new 600,000-square-foot warehouse for Spain's Mercadona grocery chain. The project is a first in Spain for Witron, but, also represents the first time that Witron will integrate its automated solution into a fresh and frozen goods storage area.

Buffalo, NY-based Rich Products Corp. selected Lean Logistics' On-Demand TMS and Managed Transportation Services solutions to consolidate daily transportation operations, monitor the daily ship schedule and to set pick-up and delivery appointments.

The German Logistics Association bestowed the 2006 Logistics Service Award upon Simulation, Analysis and Forecasting (SAF) AG and Deutsche Woolworth GmbH & Co. for implementing customer demand-oriented logistics services based on innovative forecasting technology.
