Canadian grocery wholesaler and retailer Loblaw Cos. has begun an aggressive campaign to fine suppliers up to $1,000 Canadian dollars ($878 U.S.) for shipments that arrive late, for missed shipments entirely or for shipments that contain other delivery problems. Along with the fines, Loblaw’s will refuse to accept products shipped in error or delivered in bad condition.

Castroville, CA-based Ocean Mist Farms, a grower of artichokes, is extending its contract for pallet pooling with CHEP, Orlando, FL, for an additional three years.

Reyes Holdings, Rosemont, IL, purchased a 45,000-square-foot warehouse in Fridley, MN, and 40 trucks from The HAVI Group, and will add them to the operations of its Martin-Brower Co. subsidiary, a McDonald’s distributor. The deal extends Martin-Brower’s distribution in Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska and Montana.

Concord, MA-based Welch’s will deploy Austin, TX-based ClearOrbit’s Gemini mobile software solution for Oracle Process Manufacturing to improve inventory accuracy, labor efficiency and order fulfillment at six company-owned and 15 third-party production and warehouse locations nationwide. It will also implement ClearOrbit’s Compliance Label Manager to better manage barcode label format requests.

The Kellogg Co., Battle Creek, MI, will implement an electronic invoicing solution from San Francisco-based OB10 for its suppliers in Great Britain, Ireland, Germany, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria and Scandinavia, with Italy also expected to come onboard in the near future.

Foodservice redistributor Dot Foods, Mount Sterling, IL, has selected SHORTREC software from Atlanta-based ORTEC for daily route planning and dispatch of its 500-truck fleet. Go-live of the software is scheduled through December.

Juice manufacturer Northwest Naturals, Bothell, WA, will implement the Adonix X3 Process suite, including process manufacturing for formula management and inventory control with lot traceability, across its manufacturing network.

Goya Foods, Secaucus, NJ, opened a 109,000-square-foot distribution center, including 13,000 square feet of freezer space and 12 loading docks, in Prince George, VA, to improve service to the Mid-Atlantic.

C&S Wholesale Grocers, Keene, NH, has leased more than 1 million square feet of distribution space in Bethlehem, PA, and renewed the lease on a 770,000-square-foot facility in Harrisburg, PA.

The Procter & Gamble Co., Cincinnati, selected Terra Technology’s Real-Time Forecasting (RTF) solution to improve customer value, increase supply chain stability and improve inventory management. P&G is live on RTF in Europe and plans to roll the software out to all its operations across the globe over the next two years.
