Hanson Logistics, St. Joseph, MI, is constructing a temperature-controlled consolidation center in Chicago. The 14,500,000-cubic-foot facility will be constructed in three phases with a total of 45,000 pallet positions ranging from deep frozen (-20°F) for ice cream to 0°F for frozen and a 32-40°F cooler. The facility, which will be completed this summer, is designed specifically for high-volume throughput, with a flexible racking design and layout enabling Hanson to meet a variety of customer requirements including case-pick consolidation and cross docking of temperature-controlled food products.... Preferred Freezer Services, Newark, NJ, has opened a facility in Westfield, MA. Featuring 7.5 million cubic feet of freezer space, it's the fourth warehouse Preferred Freezer has opened in Massachusetts.
Send In The Clones
Just because the Food and Drug Administration has approved the use of meat and milk from cloned animals and their offspring, don't expect to be consuming cloned products any time soon. ViaGen, a livestock cloning company in Austin, TX, says that cloned animals, like Jewel and her clone Diamond (right), are costly and will be used primarily for breeding. Last month, Diamond was named the winner of the Winter Yearling Class in the Junior Show at the World Dairy Expo.
