Kellogg Co., Battle Creek, MI, has acquired IndyBake Products, Seelyville, IN. IndyBake has been baking the company's Town House and Club crackers for 10 years. The acquisition comes as snack food makers compete for an expanding market fed by consumers who, due to high gasoline prices, eat out less and purchase more snack foods.
United Sugars Corp., Edina, MN, has awarded Murphy Warehouse Co., Minneapolis, the Warehouse of the Year Achievement in Excellence 2008 award. Murphy, one of the Upper Midwest's largest asset-based logistics companies, is the sole logistics partner of United Sugars to receive the award this year.
The Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co., Chicago, has completed its merger transaction with Mars Inc., McLean, VA. As a result, Wrigley will become a subsidiary of privately held Mars. Under the terms of the agreement, Wrigley common stock has ceased trading on The New York Stock Exchange and the Chicago Stock Exchange and will be delisted shortly.
Kroger Manufacturing, Cincinnati, has been recognized by the International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) for outstanding worker safety performance. UK-based Maclean's Highland Bakery, a bakery supplier to Tesco, has adopted GXS' Intelligent Web Forms (IWF) to help the bakery in its drive to increase business with retail customers. The deployment has led to increased sales, greater efficiencies and fewer out-of-stocks for Maclean's bakery products at stores. Maclean's previously managed orders via paper-based processes.
Tesco, London, UK, is renewing its license with Miamisburg, OH-based Teradata Corp. for its current enterprise data warehouse (EDW) management solution. The retailer says it uses Teradata's solution to provide management information systems for commercial reporting, supply chain and also for its stores.
The Coca-Cola Co., Atlanta, intends to make cash offers to purchase China Huiyuan Juice Group Ltd., a Hong Kong company which owns the Huiyuan juice business throughout China. Coca Cola says the acquisition will provide a unique opportunity to strengthen their business in China. The deal is valued at $2.4 billion.

Del Monte Foods Co., San Francisco, has sold its seafood business, including StarKist, to Korean conglomerate Dongwon Industries. The deal is worth $359 million. Del Monte hopes slimming down will let it stabilize its earnings.
